The featured guest is DURMERRICK ROSS, a nationally recognized, award-winning speaker, and performance poet. His work explores Black and Black-queer experiences in America, faith traditions, social justice, and mental health. Durmerrick's artistry is rooted in a deep commitment to storytelling that inspires change, guided by the words of Tupac Shakur: "I may not change the world, but I'll inspire the mind that does."
A proud graduate of Texas Southern University and member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Durmerrick's work has been featured by the NAACP, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Coca-Cola, All Def, the Pan African Film Festival, and others. Next up, Durmerrick will take his talents to the historic Apollo Theater where he will compete in the longstanding Amateur Night at the Apollo.
ALSO (!!), Durmerrick made history by reaching a landmark mental health settlement with Howard University in 2023 and he did so without an attorney. Since then, he's been working with students, alumni, and affinity groups to lay the groundwork for meaningful, structural change in the collegiate arena in this field.
