as posted by the channelIn this episode of ASCENDING with APRIL R. SILVER, host, the featured guest is ROSA CLEMENTE, a scholar-activist, independent journalist, producer, and highly respected organizer.
As a proud Black Puerto Rican woman, Clemente leads the hotly debated topic of pro-Blackness (or lack thereof) in the Afro-Latina, Afro-Latino, and Afro-LatinX communities.
Uncompromising in her fight for justice, Clemente made history in 2008 when she became the first Afro/Black-Latina to run for Vice President of the United States on the Green Party ticket. She and her running mate, Cynthia McKinney, are the only women of color ticket in U.S. Presidential history.
Also of note, Clemente was an associate producer on "Judas and the Black Messiah," an Oscar-winning film by Shaka King, Charles D. King, and Ryan Coogler about the betrayal of Black Panther Chairman Fred Hampton.
Currently, Rosa is completing her Ph.D at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Clemente's academic work centers on national liberation struggles inside the U.S.
