The Trump administration has halted immigration applications from nineteen countries, almost all in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia, while claiming it’s just about “vetting.” But Marc breaks down how the pause fits into a larger political shift: Trump’s open embrace of far-right, European identitarian language calling for “reverse migration.” That same term has been used to justify mass expulsions of Black, brown, Muslim, and non-Christian communities abroad.
Marc explains how the White House seized on the shooting of two National Guard members, by an Afghan man the Trump administration resettled, to escalate racist narratives and push policies that target whole populations for the actions of one person. This isn’t about safety. It’s about reshaping America through exclusion.
He also details how DHS has echoed the rhetoric, discussed creating an Office of Re-Migration, and floated the idea of favoring white Afrikaner migrants while shutting out the global south. More than 1.4 million asylum seekers now sit in limbo, facing collective punishment and stalled cases after following every rule the U.S. set for them.
Marc calls it what it is: a modern version of old colonial logic, domination dressed up as national security, and a dangerous step toward state-sanctioned racial engineering.
