Pat Ryder addressed questions about a suspected Chinese surveillance balloon moving over the U.S. China acknowledged Friday to owning the balloon, but referred to it as a civilian device “used for scientific research such as meteorology." Ryder said the balloon, which was spotted in Montana on Thursday, continues to move eastward and is in central U.S. He also said the Pentagon knows it is a surveillance balloon, but did not provide additional details.
