8:02Now PlayingIn 1955, the new German military, the Bundeswehr, was created. Then, in 1957, it was decided to allow altered versions of WWII medals and decorations, like the famous Knight's Cross, to be worn by serving soldiers and veterans alike. A whole range of WWII-era awards were reviewed and remade minus offensive symbols, and German soldiers once more could be seen wearing Iron Crosses and Wound Badges and many other familiar decorations.
Dr. Mark Felton FRHistS, FRSA, is a wellknown British historian, the author of 22 nonfiction books, including bestsellers 'Zero Night' and 'Castle of the Eagles', both currently being developed into movies in Hollywood. In addition to writing, Mark also appears regularly in television documentaries around the world, including on The History Channel, Netflix, National Geographic, Quest, American Heroes Channel and RMC Decouverte.
