Developed by General Dynamics Land Systems–Canada, the Grizzly combines a Canadian-designed LAV platform with a highly automated KNDS 155mm artillery gun module, creating a modern self-propelled artillery solution designed to support the Canadian Army's future Indirect Fire Modernization efforts.
In this video, we break down what was actually revealed at CANSEC, why the Grizzly is generating so much attention, and whether it could become a realistic replacement for Canada's M777 towed howitzers.
We discuss the advantages of a Canadian-built LAV-based artillery platform, the benefits of automation, modern fire-control systems, protected crew operation, fire-on-the-move capability, and how self-propelled artillery is becoming increasingly important on today's battlefield.
We also examine how the Grizzly could fit into the Canadian Army's future force structure alongside emerging capabilities such as HIMARS, drones, counter-battery systems, and long-range precision fires.
