A documentary about a road trip from Kansas City to Alaska and back in less than 17 days. The trip took over 8,000 miles total. You do the math!

How much should i expect to spend going one way?

Probably at least $600. This will be your main cost if you decide to camp along the way.

How hard is it and what do you need to cross the borders?

It's not too bad, especially going from Canada to Alaska. They will just ask you basic questions. You will need a passport, though.

How were all the roads on the way up?

During the summer, there are several spots where the permafrost has thawed up in Yukon and Alaska and so there are pot holes. Other than that, the roads aren't too bad anymore. The speed limit usually is around 55mph once you get up in the middle of nowhere. In the winter (October to April) the roads could get ugly quickly with all the snow and ice.

Also, how was the actual driving?

If you stick to 8 hours a day or less, it wouldn't be so bad at all. But it really began to suck for us when we drove more than 8 hours in a day. That really wears on you! The main thing is regularly getting out and stretching/walking around.
