Often Catholics feel anxiety about the spiritual well-being of their non-Catholic friends. Bishop McCaig answers a Locals Supporter's question with the Church's long standing teaching: we are called to evangelization in charity and peace.
While it's our job to be be prepared to answer anyone who "calls you to account for the hope that is in you" (1 Peter 3:15), it is not our job to *make* anyone believe; only the Holy Spirit and a volitional choice from the heart of the hearer can make a conversion. Pray for your friend and grow in joy; read up on any issue they struggle with, but do so as a means to help them, not so as to throw a solution at them, an unwanted solution usually for an unseen problem. Wait for them to ask you, make sure your faith and the Church's teaching makes sense to you first; offer your joy and the reason for your hope, but do not hold the weight of their soul on your heart, they are in God's hands not yours.
