Affirmations. Everyone’s doing them. But are they actually biblical? Or are we unknowingly dabbling in something else entirely? In this video, I’m breaking down what affirmations really are and where they actually come from. I'm talking about New Thought teachers like Ernest Holmes, Florence Scovel Shinn, and Emma Curtis Hopkins... you know... names you’ve (probably) never heard of, but their ideas are alive and well on TikTok, in MLMs, on your cousin’s vision board, on your aunt’s “manifest it!” coffee mug, and even in some pulpits. These and other thinkers helped shape a belief system where your words are tools to manifest reality, an idea that’s quietly woven its way into churches, sermons, and your social media feed. There’s a spiritual worldview and unbiblical theology that many people and Christians can unknowingly adopt when they practice affirmations.
