I had a video plan to release today, but that was before the events of Wednesday. I think that this would be a more appropriate one to release, considering the events of this last week. I've been asked by more than one person how we should handle the topic of forgiveness with all of the stuff that's been happening. And I think that this conversation might surprise you. And help you.

I think many would be surprised to discover that biblical forgiveness isn't what they think it is. I remember having a very specific "oh woooowwwww..." moment when I understood that there was a big difference between biblical forgiveness and what my friend Teasi Cannon calls "therapeutic forgiveness." She was wrong about this for years. So was I. I can’t think of anyone better to talk about forgiveness than Teasi. She’s walked through more hardship than most of us can imagine, not because of her own choices, but because of the sins and failures of others. She’s had more people to forgive than anyone should. But what does forgiveness look like, exactly? Is forgive and forget biblical? What is therapeutic forgiveness, and why is it problematic? In the first half of this video, Teasi shares her story (trigger warning). In the second half, we talk about biblical forgiveness, and Teasi shares what she got wrong for all these years.
