What does inevitability sound like?

That’s not a thruway line—it’s the question I keep coming back to after this conversation with Jeff Childers. Because something is coming at us, fast, and whether we understand it or not doesn’t seem to matter all that much.

In this clip, we get into AI—not the shiny version but the part that’s a little harder to explain. The part where a tool starts to feel like something else. I’m talking about a world where you can ask AI for help on a legal case, get a better answer than you expected, and then immediately wonder if you’ve just crossed a line you can’t uncross.

We also talk about authenticity—not in an abstract, philosophical way—but in the real, everyday sense. What happens when the fake thing works better than the real thing? What happens when you can’t tell the difference anymore? And maybe more importantly, what happens if you stop caring?

Somewhere in the middle of all this, we land on a strange truth: nobody really understands how this stuff works. Not completely. And yet, here we are, using it, improving it, and in some cases, trusting it with decisions we used to make on our own. I don’t have a grand conclusion for you. But I do think we’re all about to get very good, very quickly, at deciding what’s real, what isn’t, and how much that distinction matters. If it matters at all.
