Gravity Remains Undefeated | Andy Stumpf #501 | The Way I Heard It

I asked Andy Stumpf what it feels like to get shot at close range with an AK-47. His answer involves Jose Canseco, Mark McGwire, a baseball bat, and several nine-inch nails. That’s more or less how the conversation went.

Andy spent 17 years as a Navy SEAL, taught BUD/S, jumped out of airplanes roughly 8,500 times, and spent a fair amount of time BASE jumping off mountains in Switzerland. So naturally, we talked about money. And fear. And why the best way to shut down the United States military might be to simply eliminate Microsoft PowerPoint.

Along the way, Andy explains why some of the worst moments of his life were also the funniest, and why he’d rather reach the end of his life having made the world .0001% better than discover that all those bullets, parachutes, bad decisions, and hard-earned lessons were useful only to him.

There are people with interesting resumes, and there are interesting people. Andy is both. He’s funny, refreshingly candid, and very hard to summarize. So I won’t.
