0:44Now PlayingRead this: "THE CHURCH ONLY WANTS MY MONEY" is a phrase I've heard a lot over the last 20 years of preaching and pastoring. The truth is, the type of people I've heard say this always neglect to acknowledge all of the multi-national predatory businesses their money *gladly* goes to. It's not about the money, it's about their desire to designate where and what it goes to instead of entrusting it to be stewarded by leadership. They often make faithful, good pastors suffer as the result of the sin of selfish pastors.
In the same way, we reveal idolatry in other areas like marriage---where we step outside of the identity of a servant and into the desire to be served. We want to control our spouse instead of serving our spouse. It says less about them, and more about us.
May our worship reflect the only one worthy of our worship! May we become what is truly worth beholding. May we be generous like Him. May we serve like Him. May the direction of our affection be the eternal throne of the Risen One! AMEN!
