This is clipped from a 1940 advertisement for a special publisher called the Kriegsbücherei der deutschen Jugend. They specialized in producing booklets for youths which told heroic war stories about German military exploits from 1940 until 1942. In total 156 normal booklets and 14 special editions were produced.

Attractive military themed illustrations were used in such publications to capture the youths imaginations and a man named Hans Liska was the most successful illustrator of the time. In the video presenting the 3rd part in the 29th Motorized ID series an attentive subscriber noted that the man sketching the pioneers building the bridge across the Dnjeper river looks very much like Hans Liska and I have to agree. Here are some of the illustrations he created for a collection that was widely published in 1944.
