Two bills before the Senate Committee on Environment and Energy Tuesday, March 3, would remove that moratorium. Senator Mary Kiffmeyer, R-Big Lake, sponsors SF 306, which would repeal the moratorium. Senator Bruce Anderson, R-Buffalo, authors SF 536, which would provide one exception for Xcel Energy to build a new nuclear generating unit at its Monticello facility.
