DFL Senator Erik Simonson represents Duluth, where the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) has run a structural deficit since 2011. He, along with Senator Paul Anderson, R-Plymouth, who chairs the Senate Higher Education Committee, join Capitol Report moderator Shannon Loehrke to discuss the challenges facing Minnesota's colleges, universities and post-secondary students.
Also on the program, the Senate Judiciary and Public Safety Committee begins a series of meetings to examine the enforcement of laws established to address violence in Minnesota communities. Plus, Senate DFL members call for public hearings on two bills that would expand Minnesota's gun laws.
