2:44:49Now PlayingOn a 42-25 vote, the Senate approved a measure Monday, April 27, that would initiate legislative oversight of nearly $2 billion dollars of federal aid offered through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES).
Proponents of the measure said that legislative input is needed for administering funds to combat the COVID-19 pandemic in Minnesota. Opponents of the bill expressed concern that legislative action would politicize and delay the action. SF 4486 would need to be approved by the House and signed by Governor Tim Walz before legislative oversight is assured.
In other action, the Senate approved the appointment of Thom Peterson as Commissioner of Agriculture and granted final passage to the following measures:
SF3159 (Lang) Ambulance service volunteer educational costs;
SF3017 (Nelson) Aging board self-directed caregiver grants;
SF2939 (Nelson) Health-related boards;
SF2919 (Kiffmeyer) Minnesota Athletic Trainers Act;
SF979 (Kiffmeyer) Child care training timelines.
