She also ran for Governor in 2018 as the DFL-endorsed candidate, but lost to Tim Walz in the primary. Currently, Murphy teaches nursing at St. Catherine University. She easily won the race to represent District 64 in St. Paul, following the retirement of Senator Dick Cohen. She joins Capitol Report moderator Shannon Loehrke to offer her perspective on the challenges for the upcoming session, including prioritizing equity in healthcare, education, economic development, and the environment.
