2:55Now PlayingAs additional COVID-19 vaccine doses become available, Minnesota would have more people authorized to administer the shots, under a bill passed unanimously by the Senate Monday, February 8. Senate File 475, authored by Senator Rich Draheim, R-Madison Lake, would allow dentists with vaccine training the flexibility to provide COVID-19 vaccinations to patients. Current law already allows dentists to offer the annual flu shot.
“One group that wants to help are the dentists,” said Draheim. “We have a lot of media reports of staff, doctors and nurses, being overworked.” Senator Matt Klein, DFL-Mendota Heights, an emergency room physician, affirmed the importance of the measure. “Thank you from the medical community to our dentist colleagues for participating in this all-hands-on-deck effort,” he said.
