34:52Now PlayingKey Senate Republican members along with representatives of the medical community outlined a measure Monday, February 21, that would allow Minnesota to join the Interstate Nurse Licensure Compact; whereby, a nurse licensed in a compact state would be able to work in any of the compact member states . The intent according to bill author Carla Nelson, R-Rochester, is to "get more high-quality nurses on the job faster..."
Minnesota nurse Dominic Pahl, who works for the Mayo Clinic, said he must pursue licensure in four other states in order to offer continuing care to patients who visited the Rochester hospital. The bill would streamline licensing for Minnesota nurses while attracting nurses and future students from other states.
