Minnesota is on the cusp of putting into state law guaranteed access to an abortion following the U.S. Supreme Court's overturning of Roe v. Wade in June. Governor Tim Walz, Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan, US Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra and leading DFL lawmakers spoke at a press conference Thursday, January 19, to celebrate the expected passage of codified reproductive rights in Minnesota.
HF 1/ SF 1, the Protect Reproductive Options (PRO) Act, is scheduled for a vote in the DFL-controlled House of Representatives Thursday, January 19. Senate Majority Leader Kari Dziedzic (DFL-Minneapolis) said the pro-choice DFL majority in the Senate will likely vote on the measure next week.
