Because neither party currently has a majority, the two are working together in unprecedented ways to kick off the new legislative year. Party leadership joins Senate Spotlight’s Veronica Marshall to discuss the unique challenges and opportunities this session presents.
Thanks to a special election during the interim, there’s one new Senator joining her caucus in the chamber on January 14th. We introduce you to Ann Johnson Stewart, the state’s newest Senator.
In November, Minnesota Management and Budget released its financial outlook for the state. "Spending decisions that are made this legislative session will have impacts on the planning years. And we are anticipating some challenges in those in those years. It will be especially important for policymakers to take the long view when making budget decisions this year,” said Minnesota Management and Budget Commissioner Erin Campbell. We have the response from legislators.
