Since then, the Governor has shared his 2025 budget proposal, which includes a reduction in some special education reimbursement costs. But while state spending may go down, when it comes to special education in Minnesota, the numbers are going up. From the number of students receiving special education services, to the cost of those services themselves — school districts and the state's budget are feeling the strain. Senate Spotlight's Veronica Marshall talks to Senator Mary Kunesh, Chair of the Education Finance Committee, about what can be done to support educators and some of their most vulnerable students with the funding challenges ahead.
