9:22Now PlayingThe gap between what Minnesota brings in and what it spends is widening, according to Minnesota Management and Budget’s (MMB) latest financial forecast. The state’s projected budget deficit for fiscal years (FY) 28-29 is now $6 billion. While some of the state’s structural imbalance is due to one-time spending initiatives, inflation, and foreseeable trends in education and human services spending, Senator Eric Pratt, R-Prior Lake, says there are opportunities now to use tax dollars more wisely to help balance the budget.
