The senators behind the bipartisan legislation talk about the benefits the state could see if the OIG makes it across the finish line.
Senator Judy Seeberger, DFL-Afton, shares the work she's done this session to remove barriers and the stigma around receiving mental health services. She also discusses the need for a bonding bill, particularly one which includes funding for water treatment projects to remove PFAS contamination from drinking water across the state.
Senator Karin Housley, R-Stillwater, explains the factors her committee considered when appropriating money to communities with capital investment requests. The senator also describes her work supporting seniors, such as championing the Minnesota Nice HomeShare pilot program.
And this week, hundreds of Hmong Americans came to the Capitol to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Hmong exodus from Laos following the end of the Vietnam War, also known as the Southeast Asian Conflict. Senators Tou Xiong, DFL-Maplewood, and Foung Hawj, DFL-Saint Paul, share what May 14th, also known as Hmong Special Guerrilla Unit (SGU) Remembrance Day, means to them. The SGU were part of the United States military operation in Laos, later known as the Secret War.
