A recent report from the Minnesota Department of Health shows that concerns about affordable healthcare are rising across the state, as healthcare costs continue to grow faster than wages. This imbalance is forcing many Minnesota families to make difficult financial decisions. That's why Senator Matt Klein, DFL-Mendota Heights, has made lowering the high cost of healthcare a priority this session.
Minnesota also has a severe shortage of affordable housing. To create and sustain a healthy housing market, the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency says the state needs 182,000 new housing units in the next ten years. Senator Bill Weber, R-Luverne, says that goal will be difficult to reach until the state reevaluates the burden soft-costs are having on new construction.
