He inadvertently paid the TDS twice on the same property. When he got in touch with the builder to claim refund of the additional TDS amount that was paid, the builder was not willing to cooperate. He wants to know how he can claim the refund. Expert Jayesh Kariya answered that the excess TDS deducted erroneously may be adjusted against the balance future payments to the builder, in case of part payment. Otherwise, you may approach your assessing officer and the jurisdictional TDS officer of the builder explaining about the error and claiming refund of excess TDS.
