Magicbricks Now on May 18 first highlighted the face-off between CIDCO and developers wherein the latter had levelled some serious charges against the civic body.
CIDCO is a city planning organisation created by the Government of Maharashtra and is responsible for speedy development of the city. However, developers alleged that CIDCO is anti-development and is proving to be a roadblock. It was also accused of driving away foreign investors.
CIDCO, in its defence, said that there was no wrong done by them and that the government is pro-ease of doing business.
Clarifying the issue further, CIDCO MD Bhushan Gagrani said the organisation has met with a group of developers to understand their concern.
Speaking to Magicbricks Now on June 8, wherein he was part of the panel in “The Urban Debate” that dealt with fight against corruption, Gagrani said that taking cue from the earlier discussion that happened on the channel (aired on May 18), CIDCO called for discussion with concerned parties and has given them two options.
“The first option is to surrender the land completely to CIDCO as per the policy or else if a company wants to develop it, we will allow it by imposing some penalty as per our rule. The developers are considering both options and will revert back on it soon,” he said.
CIDCO has seen several transfers after the issue was taken up by the channel, to this,Gagrani replied that though the transfers happened under normal procedure, the organisation is taking this opportunity to introspect.
He expects the NAINA plan phase I to get approved soon and the Navi Mumbai airport’s first phase will be ready three years from today.
