Question: I was staying in a 3 storey building in Nagpada in Mumbai. The building went in for redevelopment 4 years ago. The builder demolished the building entirely. He promised to pay rent and did so for a year post which he stop payments. No construction is happening as well. When we questioned him, he threatened us and refused to continue construction. What legal recourse can we take?
Answer: File a case for civil damages before High Court or City Civil Court. You can also file consumer complaint for rent.
You have not disclosed whether agreement for sale is executed with you or society. Unless agreement is not executed, it will become difficult to take recourse under the act.
