Question: I have booked a 4 BHK flat. It is my first property purchase. My wife is a home maker and I will be making all the payments. Should I register it jointly in both our names or my name alone? Also should I take the home loan in my name alone? Does this make any difference in case we are planning future property purchases?
Answer: Under the law, the person who makes the payment of the consideration would be deemed to be the owner of the property and the property shall vest in him. Therefore, if you are making the entire payment you may purchase the property in your name.
