Question: I booked a flat in June 2010 and registered it in June 2011. The possession was given on Feb 2015. Will I be eligible for long-term capital gains tax if I sell it now?
Answer: No you must hold the flat till Feb 2018 for it to qualify as a long term asset. That is you need to hold the flat for 3 years from the date of possession by which you can get long term capital gains.
