The city generates about 1600 tonnes of waste daily. It has run out of space in its sole dumping ground and has not yet identified a new location. In the meanwhile, the city's garbage is being dumped at Uruli Devachi, a dumpyard located on the outskirts of Pune. This move has not gone down well with residents of the area.
