Question: My building is being redeveloped. Will capital gains be calculated from the date of agreement or from the date of receiving the Occupation Certificate?
Answer: Period of 3 years to be counted from the date of possession (post-construction) and not from the date of agreement or the date of occupation certificate. If property transferred before the date of possession or within 3 years of obtaining the possession, the capital gains exempt earlier would be taxable.
