1:58Now PlayingCivic bodies across the country are reaping the demonetisation windfall. In Hyderabad, tax collections have raised drastically in the last one month, after the government said people could pay property taxes in defunct notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has mopped up over Rs 190 crore in the last month alone, followed by Kalyan (170 core) and Ahmedabad (150 crore). Chennai, also managed to swell up its property tax kitty and collected 76.8 crore, whereas, Thane and Nagpur have collected Rs 23crore respectively.
