5:04Now PlayingIn a surprise move, the Maharashtra government cleared a policy saying only hawkers with a domicile certificate will be considered for a hawker’s license. This essentially means that these hawkers must have resided in the state of Maharashtra for the last fifteen years. The government has now formed a sub-committee which will finalize the policy and implement it.
Welcoming the move, hawkers alleged that they do not want a mere lip-service and want proper implementation of the policy. However, opposition termed the move as a ‘poll game’ before the elections.
