Question: The benefits of capital gains on sale of a house has been given by extending the base year from 81 to 2001 but at the same time the Finance Minister has imposed a surcharge on income exceeding Rs 50 lakh. What’s the view on this?

Answer: Income exceeding Rs 50 lakh does not falls under middle class, but upper-class or super middle-class segment. The strategy can be called as ‘Robin Hood’ strategy, as you take away from rich people and distribute among the poor.

The biggest negative in the Union Budget 2017 is that the middle-class is not getting the exemption on the interest paid on your second home loan as the amount has been capped at rs 2 lakh.
