13:11Now PlayingAs a result of MIRROR NOW pointing out an anomaly in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) that led to the prices of cigarettes decreasing, the Finance Ministry has slapped an additional cess over the price of cigarettes.
It was due to the reviewing the anomaly, that we discovered that the Finance Ministry had removed additional excise duty on tobacco, pan masala and cigarettes with effect from July 1, following the GST rollout. This decision, according to analysts, decreased the total tax levied on cigarettes by 4-9%.
