The Quota controversy continues to be at the centre stage as the apex court bench on Jan 25th said that it will examine the Centre's decision to implement 10% quota in jobs and education for the economically weaker sections of the society. The bench comprising of CJI Ranjan Gogoi and Justice Sanjiv Khanna issued a notice to the centre seeking reply within four weeks. But in a relief to the Modi govt, SC did not stay the implementation of quota for poor. Which aspects of the quota bill will the Supreme Court examine? What are the constitutional challenges for the government? Will the Govt be able to roll out the big quota carpet before the Lok Sabha polls?
