1. Social media platform Facebook is now down for some users around the world today. Facebook's outage around the world has now stretched beyond 10 hours.
2. The DGCA & the aviation ministry have assured that Indian passengers will not be affected by the ongoing ban on Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft from the Indian airspace.
3. The Pollachi sexual harassment case has now been transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation. The agency will now probe the case where pictures and videos of young women were shot by a gang without their consent. The videos were being used to blackmail these women later.
4. The battle for saving trees in Bengaluru reignites, this time over the elevated corridor project. An environmental assessment report of the projects suggests that more than 3000 trees will have to be axed in the city and lakes will also be under threat. The Karnataka road development corporation has already floated a tender for the first phase of this project without any public consultation. Citizens have now started a campaign against the elevated corridor tender.
5. The city of Bengaluru is staring at massive water storage. Water tankers charge exorbitant rates as several areas in Bengaluru reel under severe water crisis. Bengaluru Government is trying to use the water stored in borewells as a corrective measure against severe water crisis in the city.
6. China has blocked Jaish-e-Mohammed founder Masood Azhar as global terrorists for the fourth time. The proposal which was initiated by France and backed by U.S and UK was held by China in the UN Security Council. China said that it needed more time to examine the sanctions request targetting Masood Azhar. The Minister of External Affairs said it was disappointed by the outcome.
7. Congress President Rahul Gandhi addresses the fishermen in Kerala ahead of Lok Sabha Elections 2019. Makes a pre-poll promise.
