Reportedly, in the past four months, three travellers had lost their lives while trekking the hills. Recently, a 59-year-old French national had died after a heart attack while trekking in Vellengiri hills. He along with three others had started a trek on Saturday. The victim suffered cardiac arrest and died on the spot while climbing the fifth hill on Sunday. He was identified as Arouldasse Massena of Rue de la Saone in Maurepas and was living in Puducherry before moving to France. People are now urging the government to impose strict fitness test to avoid such casualties.
