40:05Now PlayingOn Nation Now with Mandar Phanse tonight, Debate over the Mumbai Metro project intensifies as the government refuses to relocate the shed location. A meeting was underway between the BMC, the state government & the environmentalist for the building the Metro lines in the city. After the massive outrage over the axing of over 2700 trees in Aaarey for the metro car shed, the activists have said that the felling of these trees will cause irreparable damage to Mumbai's ecosystems. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has finally broken his silence. He said that the top court has ruled that the area that is being used does not come under forest land and therefore it's a misconception that the forest is being destroyed. The underground metro would mitigate Mumbai's carbon emissions.
We ask - Is Maharashtra government's rationale justified over Aarey tree felling?
