3:09Now PlayingChinnasamy was accused of hiring contract killers to murder V Shankar who belongs to a scheduled caste as he married Chinnasamy’s daughter. The brutal murder of Shankar was caught by a CCTV. Shankar was hacked to death in front of Kowsalya, his wife as they were an exiting a store.
However, Division Bench led by Justice Sathayanarayanan dismisses the State’s appeal and allowed Chinnasamy’s appeal on the ground that neither the charge of the criminal conspiracy nor of murder stood proved against him. Chinnasamy’s wife Annalakshmi and her brother Pabdidurai’s acquittal were also confirmed by the Court.
The death sentence of 5 other assailants was reduced to life imprisonment and orders them to undergo 25 years without any remission. However, the order copy shows that the Court has acquitted Chinnasamy due to the prosecution’s failure to prove the charge of criminal conspiracy.
