10:06Now PlayingA major deluge has hit the State of Assam. 28 out of the 33 districts are highly impacted due to the heavy annual floods. According to the latest official reports, 9 more people have died in the last 24 hours taking the total death toll to 59. Out of the 28 districts, Barpeta has been the worst-hit with over 5.50 lakh people affected. The rains that began on the 12th of July have led to heavy flooding of three vast rivers. The dismal floods have also left vast damage on animals, national parks and wildlife sanctuaries. Rescue and search operations are underway by the official teams.
