On The Urban Debate with Tanvi Shukla, as Mumbai has noticed a surge in COVID cases, the entire narrative of how Mumbai has been handling the COVID crisis was being discussed. Dr. Om Srivastav, Jaslok Hospital, states that the number of deaths due to COVID-19 in Mumbai is much higher than in other states.

Dr. Rahuk Pandit, Fortis Hospital, explains how one of the biggest reasons that cater to Mumbai's COVID crisis is 40 percent of the population is a comorbidity in patients like diabetes and hypertension. He also adds if such illnesses are not controlled patients tend to do worse than others.

Dr. Samir Dalwai, Development Pediatrician, explains the concept of 'happy hypoxia' which is defined as a decrease in the partial pressure of oxygen, which results in patients not seeming as symptomatic. This gives them a false sense of security where patients end up not going to the hospital.
