Allegations of exploiting the girl and trafficking her also have come up.
NIA had filed an FIR mentioning 8 sections of IPC related to kidnapping, sexual exploit, trafficking, conspiracy and wrongful confinement.
The victim's parents allege that the girl had gone to London for higher studies where she was trapped by a gang with roots in Bangladesh.
Her parents allege that she was radicalised, converted to Islam by the gang and then they demanded money from them for her release.
Initially, the case was handled by Chennai Crime Branch back in May.
It was later taken over by NIA after an order came from Home Ministry.

A2 - Khawat Hussain Bakul
A3 - Zakir Naik.
NIA sources suggest that Nafeez was the one who trapped the victim and his father is Khawat Hussain Bakul, a prominent Bangladeshi politician who is in close contact with Zakir Naik and investigation is underway to find the involvement of a fundamentalist group linking all three.
