as posted by the channelStating that heavy rains have led to crop damage and a drop in the supply of Onions has led to the crow's price rise.
At the Koyambedu market, 1 kilo of Onion price reached 100 rupees as supply dropped from 775 tonnes to 225 tonnes for the past few days.
This has led to a soaring price rise from 35 rupees per kilo to 85 rupees in wholesale from 45 rupees to 100 - 110 rupees in retail within a week.
As damage control State government has begun sale in State-owned farm-fresh markets for 45 rupees and claimed that if the need arises, will sell them through ration shops as well.
The state has also fixed 45 rupees per kilo price for Onions and selling them at State-owned green markets selling 2 kilos per person.
