BJP’s ally, the current Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar, has recently been missing from the party’s posters just ahead of the elections. Speculations have been raised whether there is a conscious effort to reduce Nitish Kumar’s important or if there is any understanding that the 15-year term is bound to bring about the baggage of anti-incumbency.
Neerja Chowdhury, a Senior Journalist, has commented on Tejashwi Yadav’s rising popularity and Nitish Kumar’s decline of the same. She said that Tejashwi Yadav has definitely become an alternative figure on the Opposition side. However, the vote may possibly be more against Nitish Kumar than a vote for Tejashwi Yadav.
Professor Ashok Pankaj, Political Analyst commented on Nitish Kumar’s performance and said that if you look at the performance of Nitish Kumar compared to the first tenure, the second and third have been lacklustre. He added that the CM has not been able to come up with new ideas to strengthen governance.
