According to the AQI reports, the pollution levels in Delhi today were 409, which falls in the severe category. With the rising pollution levels, Covid-19 cases being positive have also gone up.
Dr. Jugal Kishore, Head of Community Medicines, Safdarjung Hospital says that previous experiences of flu cases and respiratory disorders rising during winter times were already a testament of Covid-19 cases going up during the season. He further adds that the pollution level in city adds onto the agony of Coronavirus. He says that none of this is unusual and was all expected.
Dr. Chandrakant Pandav, Former Professor and Head of Centre for Community Medicine, AIIMS says that are multiple associations for the rising number of cases. He agrees with Tanvi Shukla and says, festivities and pollution have all resulted in the rise.
