as posted by the channelA massive avalanche has been caused in the river Dhauliganga in Uttarakhand's Joshimath area of Chamoli district. The water level in the river rose suddenly after a glacier broke in the area. The authorities have said that the houses on the river's bankside have been destroyed. The massive flooding also damaged the Rishiganga power project in Tapovan area. It washed away the Joshimath Malari bridge. About 100-150 people are missing. Two teams of ITBP are at the spot now. Rescue operations are underway. Flow of the Bhagirathi river is being controlled as a precautionary measure. Listen in to know more about the news!
