5:01Now PlayingAs a result of the agreement with China, India did not offer any territory and instead imposed conformity and respect for the LAC and avoided any unilateral change in the status quo, the Defence Ministry said in a statement on Friday, 12 February.
The statement was in reaction to some "misinformed and misleading comments" about the disengagement process at Pangong Tso in the media and on social media. Permanent positions of both sides at the north bank of Pangong Tso-Dhan Singh Thapa Post near Finger 3 for India and east of Finger 8 for China are long-standing and well-established, the government declaration further said, adding that the current agreement provides for "cessation of forwarding deployment by both sides and continued deployment at these permanent posts."
